Hilary,

you're spot on right.

Also, there is no harm in doing it the way you did it - ie try the shortcut,
then test. Didn't work? go for the whole thing.

That's exactly why I suggested especially for beginners there is merit in
sticking to the basic recipe for a time. They need to build their own trust
in the method just as much as get their clients to have great results and
the basic recipe is a recipe for success.
