Forums, Search Engines and Seasons Greetings

Hi everyone,

As you may already know, my name is Alex Kent and I'm the man at The AMT responsible for the technology that keeps the worlds first licensing body for meridian energy therapies online and serving the community. Alongside `turning servers on and off again', I also look after upgrades and ensuring we meet accessibility criteria.

Over the past 11 years, this MET Yahoo Group has amassed a wealth of questions and answers on all topics relating to Meridian Therapies including EFT, BSFF, TAT, ET, MTT, TAB and a whole host of other acronyms we've got to know and love over the years.

Yet, most peoples experience with finding the information they were seeking was slow and often lead to pretty poor results thanks to Yahoo's search system.

So – we decided it was time to put all 10,543 posts onto our website so that people can use our own search system to find what they are after without leaving our site. We also hope that by displaying the information under our own branding that people will feel more comfortable.

The archive can be found online now on our website, contains 10,543 posts and is updated from the main yahoo group four times per day on an automatic timer:

Posting to the forum is still done via the Yahoo interface, or by emailing your message to the group email address (meridiantherapy_at_yahoogroups.com).

Because we have effectively increased the number of pages on our site from just over 1,000 to a massive 11,700 documents we have also installed new search engine software so you and your clients can find what they are after.

Alongside TheAMT.com we are also looking into indexing other Meridian Therapy related sites. For now, we have included a few for testing that are indexed regularly and will come up in search listings. A little into the new year, we will start looking into indexing the websites of our members as part of their £35/year renewal alongside other partner sites to create a massive MET search database. This is complicated software that will take me a few months to write so details TBA.

All of us in the office are amazed to think it is now 11 years and a couple of days since Ray Burnett first opened this group on 19th December 1998 (http://theamt.com/forum/0000.html) and also to think of all the advancements that have happened in that time.

It's been an astonishing decade for all techniques in the genre of Meridian Therapies and I look forward living through what the next decade brings.
