[MT] Is Reiki a meridian therapy?

I wonder if health application of Reiki could be viewed as a
meridian therapy?

I noticed that hands are placed on or close to "chakras",
again, covering all the meridians. With two hands in place
energy could be rerouted from where it's too much of it
to where it's too little energy, resulting in more balanced
organism.

Also could one learn Reiki from a book, or attunement is
a must? If book is OK which would be the best one?
