I think WE cannot replace those words.....
I feel you have to go along with the WORDS your client initially says -
otherwise you are in danger of putting words into their mouths. This is
when we have a problem with what is YOUR language and what is "clean
language". Clean language is not EVER dictating or suggesting to a client
that "this statement" or "that statement" would be better. WE don't know.!
Only our clients know what they are feeling, experiencing at any one moment.
I feel that our job is to find that feeling/statement and to work with it
cleanly, not polluting it in any way.
Maybe there are times, and I have experienced this, that your client will
not say what they are truly feeling. You can detect this from body
language, tone of voice, gut feeling etc. and then is the time to ask "what
do you REALLY feel". I can guarantee that your client will come up with
something much deeper, much more forceful and nearer to his/her gut feeling
about the problem - go ahead then, work with that!
