Ed Grimshaw, NLP Trainer & Author of The Perfect Fit, Writes: "In working with clients and seeing people with a variety of issues, one thing that has changed in recent years is treating the client’s presenting problem as real. This was pioneered in the 70s by Virginia Satir (Family Therapist) then by Richard Bandler (NLP originator). They treated the literal meaning of what was said by the client as a true statement of affairs. Of course going back before then and even now with some of the current medical thinking, “the pull yourself together school of thinking” does not get anywhere, its destructive and simply invalidates the poor sufferer." Nicola Quinn writes: "A lady phoned me last week desperate to know how to make the Dr. Claire Weekes’ method of overcoming panic attacks work. She was just too scared to try it out even though she knew in her heart, from what she had read, that if she could follow it through there was a very good chance she would be free from panic attacks forever."
Gary Craig, founder and creator of EFT Emotional Freedom Techniques, has just announced his impending retirement. This sad news comes after much consideration by Gary, but due to the stress of running a huge organisation, coupled with health issues, it was deemed a necessary step. Gary will be retiring on the 15th January 2010.

"Modern energy psychology has the concept of an energy reversal. We talk
about "being reversed" on a topic; and this comes from the intriguing observation
made by kinesiologists that when a person says and thinks, "Yes!" their muscles
are stronger than when they say and think, "NO!"
Dr Silvia Hartmann discusses how we can use our power to say "Yes!" or "No!"
to prevent self sabotage, psychomatic illness and damage to our self esteem and
future aspirations.
EmoTrance, EFT and other therapies are well known for their abilities of helping people deal with negative emotions, but many people are sceptical of their ability to help relieve physical pain.

If you intend to get to a destination and you decide to go by train, would you turn up at the station and tell the ticket officer that you don’t want to go to Manchester, you don’t like Grimsby and you are unsure whether to go to Birmingham? The attendant would expect you to know where you want to go and what time you need to get there.
Members of The AMT (Association for Meridian & Energy Therapies) in the UK have noticed a dramatic increase in the number of clients attending therapy sessions because of anxiety, stress and in more severe cases, Panic Attacks. This has been directly related to the Credit Crunch and personal money worries.

Kim Bradley writes: I was asked to talk to a group of stroke patients at West Middlesex Hospital, Isleworth, by Ahlam Wynne who has recently been awarded The Stroke Association’s Life after Stroke Excellence Award. The talk was initially about the benefits of massage for the recovery of a stroke but in talking to Margaret and Stan (two recovering Stroke patients) it became clear that how they are FEELING was their biggest concern.

Carna Zacharias-Miller Writes: Here is a technique I developed that combines the clearing work of EFT with the PS Classic Game and the Genius Symbols. “Magical EFT” is not for everybody: Usually, EFT trauma work needs to be done before entering into this realm. However, I have noticed that EFT works faster (less rounds) and often in a gentler, more “tearless” way when done in this metaphorical framework...
Exploring Different Worlds If you decided to tour the world, would you want to know which country you were in? I guess that you would – but why? Why not treat each place and each person as you find them? Well, it would be easier to navigate and communicate if you knew where you were! And at the same time you would still recognise that each person that you meet is an individual and not a stereotype. The same applies to the Enneagram personality system, which informs us that there are nine fundamental personality styles, which you might think of as “psychological nationalities”. If you work with people, it is extremely helpful to be able to recognise their personality style, just as a traveler you might find it helpful to know if you were communicating with an Italian or a Nigerian. By understanding “where a person is coming from” you will be far more effective in whatever capacity you work with them. By knowing your own Enneagram style, you open the door to profound personal development.
We are all familiar with the standard Set-Up Phrase, “Even though I have this __________, I deeply and completely love and accept myself.” It is an all-occasion, one-size-fits-all magic formula that names and counters objections, antidotes Psychological Reversal, and ‘sets the stage’ for EFT to work. And, amazingly enough, it does work ---- most of the time...
Welcome to the April edition of the AMT newsletter!
Last month saw Emotional Freedom Training’s trainers Louise Bliss and Kim Bradley teach EmoTrance to a group of 11 students aged between 14 and 16 years of age.
Sandi Radomski, ND, LCSW, DEP, and Tom Altaffer, LCSW, are finding ways of bringing energy therapies and especially their new technique called Ask & Receive to intervene in the causal cascade that is autism. Finding and healing allergies, resolving toxic exposure, changing and retraining neurology, resolving trauma and encouraging ego development are creating happier and more functional futures for many children with autism. Because of their power, ease of use, and flexibility, energy therapies are vital to bringing healing to this needed population.
Helen Mc crarren Writes:Jane came to see me after she had failed her driving test 11 times She is forty years old and lives in the countryside with her two sisters, both of whom cannot drive. Her father had died 6 months earlier and now she had no qualified driver to go out on the road with her. This was having a serious impact on her daily life.
Nicola Quinn Writes:The recent trend to drop the finger points, not helped by an article in which Gary Craig says he rarely uses them now, is deeply saddening and a big mistake in my view.
Phil Mollon writes: Over twenty years ago, working in a psychiatric setting, I began to encounter one or two patients suffering with a Dissociative Identity Disorder [DID]. This is a condition, usually resulting from severe and repeated childhood trauma, in which the normally integrated and communicative processes and parts of the psyche have become dissociated. Different personality states and behaviours may appear at different times, sometimes with separate distinct identities and names. The different parts may express quite different attitudes, beliefs, mannerisms – and basically appear like different people inhabiting the same body. Work with such people can seem like family or group therapy but with just one physical body.
